New Yangon Development Company Limited (Registration No. 114946508) invites interested companies to begin the first step of NYDC Challenge for the below infrastructure projects for development of the New Yangon City Phase 1.
I am encouraged by a couple of events that occurred recently.
Firstly, the Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission of China (NDRC), Mr. Ning Jizhe, paid an official visit to Myanmar late last month. During his formal courtesy call to the Yangon Chief Minister, Mr. Ning reiterated China’s support for the development of New Yangon City. This is significant as a considerable sum of investment will be required for the construction of the basic infrastructure for the viability of the new city.

In my first blog, I had explained the vision of NYDC – which is to create 2 million new jobs. So what does it take to create 2 million new jobs? What are the requirements of turning this vision into a reality?

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) publishes an annual Global Liveability Ranking which ranks 140 cities for their urban quality of life. The cities are scored based on five categories — stability; healthcare; culture and environment; education; and infrastructure. Our hope is that one day Yangon will be ranked among the Top Ten cities.
Yangon is the economic capital and heart of our nation, with a rich history dating back to the early 11th century. Today, the city’s population of 7 million people contributes 19.3 trillion kyats to the economy, more than a quarter of Myanmar’s GDP.
